All news- Museums Office Confirms Five National Museums and Their Opening Dates
Five national museums and the National Study Centre will open between January 2027 and September 2028. Their sites, subjects and opening dates are published from today.
- Museums Office Publishes First Collections Register
The first register of the national collections records 128,400 objects and specimens in seven divisions, of which 41,286 have been catalogued to full standard and published.
- Museums Office Announces Learning Programme and Travelling Exhibitions
Seven learning programmes begin between 21 September 2026 and May 2027, and three travelling exhibitions will be shown at Network sites from 9 November 2026, before the first museum opens.
About the Museums Office
The Museums Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network holds the national collections in trust for the citizens of the Velocity Interoperability Network and prepares the five national museums and the National Study Centre for opening.
It catalogues, conserves and stores the collections, publishes the register of what it holds, arranges exhibitions at Network sites, and provides a learning programme for schools, teachers, families and volunteers.

Instruments of the Network opens at Central Exchange, the first of three exhibitions shown at Network sites while the museums are in preparation.

The Study Centre and the first museum
The National Study Centre opens on 18 January 2027 and the Museum of the Network on 3 May 2027. Quarterly reissues of the register and the first full statistical report will be announced in the Newsroom.
