Museums Office Announces Learning Programme and Travelling Exhibitions

The Museums Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today announced the learning programme it will provide while its museums are in preparation. Seven programmes begin between 21 September 2026 and May 2027: loan boxes of handling objects for schools, taught sessions at Network sites, preparation days for teachers, a public lecture series, family sessions from the opening of each museum, six conservation traineeships, and a volunteer programme at the National Study Centre.
Loan boxes may be requested from 21 September 2026 and are lent for three weeks without charge. Taught sessions begin on 5 October 2026 and are delivered by the Office's education staff at the premises of member organisations. The public lecture series begins on 24 September 2026 and is held fortnightly; lectures are free and open to all, and places are limited by the capacity of the room.
Three travelling exhibitions drawn from the national collections will be shown at Network sites before the first museum opens. Instruments of the Network opens at Central Exchange on 9 November 2026, Work in the Yards at Northgate Relay on 11 January 2027, and Charting the Coast at Southbank Terminal on 8 March 2027.
