Press Release
Museums Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established
Office of the Spokesperson

The Museums Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Office holds the national collections of the Network in trust for its citizens, prepares the five national museums and the National Study Centre for opening, and provides a learning programme for schools, teachers and the public.
The national collections were assembled during the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, when fourteen member organisations transferred twenty-six separate collections to the Office. At establishment the collections comprise 128,400 objects and specimens, held in seven divisions and stored under the care of the Office until the museums open.
With its establishment complete, the Office today launches its official website at museums.gov.vin. The site carries press releases and official statements, the register of the national collections, the sites and planned opening dates of the museums, the learning programme and guidance for researchers. The opening dates of the museums, the first collections register, and the learning and exhibitions programmes are the subject of separate announcements published today. General enquiries may be sent to contact@museums.gov.vin.
